5th Ave New Build – Master Bedroom, Guest Bathroom

Here we are with round 2 in a 3 part series of the great reveal of the Casa de Padres – master bedroom and guest bathroom edition! (The guest bedroom has become how you say in English “a catch-all” for the moment and we are still in the finishing stages, so no photos yet.)

Like I said in the last blog post, the house has a 1700 square footprint, which means every space had to be seriously considered as to how best maximize all areas without skimping on any. With a house this size, a perfect floor plan is essential and just like the kitchen/hallway areas are very functional, the other parts of the house had to be as well.

The master bedroom is a perfect example of how to provide a relaxing little retreat while not allowing for dead, unused space. OK fine, did we have extra space to fill? No. But even if we did, I’m not a fan of creating areas that don’t get used. Nobody has friends over to entertain in the living room section of their master bedroom, right?

Mom really wanted the master bath to have a spa-like feel, which she deserved – she had to deal with me every day in high school. I knew that custom cabinetry was the way to go to add a sense of luxury and to maximize on storage. I called my buddy Mike Harder, who I have also worked with on this project and this project, and together we all came up with a beautiful walnut vanity and storage cabinet design. Attached to the bath is a walk-in closet. Function, function, function!

Stay tuned for part 3, the great room reveal coming soon!
