Wow! The construction ban has been lifted in our county so it’s back to work time. How did five weeks of cleaning sock drawers and being-really-bad-at-home-schooling go by so fast?! I truly feel like a baby bird when the mom bird says “OK, you’re going to learn how to fly today” and then pushes it out of the nest. It’s on, and I think I speak for some people that it’s going to be a bit of an adjustment.
But, despite my sweats wearing, roots growing, no people seeing hiatus, I have still been very tuned in to the design scene and have actually become more aware of my personal design style since I’ve been my only client for the past month. The upside of the extra time to sit and judge my home is that I’m more laser focused about the makeover to-do list and what styles I gravitate towards for myself.
Here are a few things that are catching my eye lately that I’d like to share with you……
STATEMENT MAKING SCONCES
I love the way the architecture of this sconce makes you forget that it’s actually functional too. Etsy has some amazing lighting sources and this one is no different.
OVERSIZED PENDANT LIGHTING
If a picture is worth 1,000 words than an oversized light fixture is worth the whole book. The great thing about an eye-catching pendant is that it eliminates the need to over decorate and can be a stand alone piece.
RELAXED CALI-CASUAL INTERIORS
I am ub-seeessssed with Cali-Casual design! It’s not a new trend by any stretch of the imagination but having had a minute to purge this month, I realize that less is more and heavy, ornate interiors were never my thing. Cali-cool is the embodiment of light, bright interiors without a lot of distractions in the decor.
COOL CHAIRS THAT DON’T HURT
Sometimes, magazine images of amazingly beautiful living rooms with chairs that look like sculptural art pieces are….exactly that. Don’t touch and don’t even think about sitting on them! I prefer a middle ground and like to incorporate conversation starting chairs that also perform the function they are meant to do which, is to provide a comfortable place to sit.

MANY COLORS OF WINE
Let’s be real: it’s been a wild ride this past month. I’ve had the Fermented Grape Gods on speed dial so I thought I would end this post by sharing one of my favorite wines: Bogle Essential Red. It is reasonably priced but tastes expensive.
Take care everybody, stay safe, stay sane, and don’t forget to follow @redeuxdecor on Instagram for the daily haps! And sign up for our newsletter too. There is exciting news coming down the pipe!
